This project aimed at analyzing the potential use of ALOS/PALSAR L-band data for mass movement monitoring due to landslides.
Osh province in the south-west of Kyrgyzstan is considered to have a high frequency of occurrence of landslides. In this project, interferometric processing was performed to monitor mass movement due to the landslides.

The objectives of this project were: 1) To generate interferogram using ALOS-PALSAR single look complex data, 2) To create a displacement map by removing the simulated topographic related phase generated from the SRTM digital surface model (DSM), 3) To compare the produced displacement map with available fault data
Pamir-Alai area of Kyrgyzstan was hit by a 6.6 magnitude earthquake on October 6, 2008, and followed by two aftershocks of magnitude 5.7 and 5.1.
Application of Remote Sensing and GIS for Earthquake Hazard Mapping and Vulnerability Assessment in Kathmandu Valley

The project was sponsored by the Japan Aerospace Exploration Agency (JAXA) as part of the capacity building program developed for the Asian region in applications of Remote Sensing and GIS in disaster and environmental issues. The main objective of this project was to assess the seismic hazard, vulnerability and risk in Kathmandu valley considering different earthquake scenarios.
